第13回東京大学E.S.S.杯争奪英語弁論大会のコンセプトは、以下のように決定いたしました。

Dawn

― see the light coming into the night ―

Our modern society can be compared to the world in noontime. We are bathed in the “light” of information day and night. When we leave the comfort of our homes in the morning,

when we check our mobiles in bed at night,

whenever and wherever we are, as long as we stay connected to our society, a flood of information swallows us.

To live in such a world, we pick up pieces of useful information. However, it is also true that we are losing some facts that are getting washed away, telling ourselves that each person has different minds and thoughts.

However, there is a time when the “light” of a certain mind captures our hearts. That is “Dawn”.

Just imagine a single ribbon of light flowing into the silent darkness of night. “Dawn” brings us light, not only to our world, but also to our minds.

This Contest plays the role of a silent dark night, illuminating the “light” that the speakers here today send into the black sky.

With hopes that each light the speakers send will grow to lighten the day and burst into beautiful “Dawn”.
